Activities for you and your family in Istria

Medieval Experience

Sanc. Michael Castle is a medieval building made of valuable logs of the family of the island of Raponji.

In addition to the impressive building, the castle offers a children’s rooster, a giant trap, a look at old crafts, and many other interesting mid-life features. Visitors can also try to shoot at the medieval arch and archery.

In order to return to the Middle Ages, visitors can enjoy delicious barbecue dishes and drinks from indigenous clay pots. You can also learn to ride horses and feed a variety of domestic animals.

From Middle Ages to Dinosaurs

Dinosaur Park in Funtana is a perfect place for family activities in Istria, it is set in an ancient quarry and surrounded by woods, making Dino Park a nice place to visit even during hot summer days.

The park has over 1.5 km of paths, life-size electric dinosaurs, amusement rides for small children, and a small farm where kids can ride ponies, it also has regular shows throughout the day.

See the Sea

As you might expect from a coastal region, Istria also does aquariums quite well.

You’ll find them in Umag, Rovinj, Poreg and Pula, all showcasing fish and plant life from the Adriatic Sea. If you are to choose one of many in Istria, then Pula aquarium is highly recommended.

“The Aquarium is placed in fort Verudela, part of the once powerful “Fortress Pula” of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The historical fort is revived and enriched by more than 200 species of marine and freshwater fish, reptiles and amphibians. Meet our inhabitants in rooms, hallways, tunnels and moat of the once mighty fort and discover secrets of the aquatic environment!”
