ITF, International Tennis Federation
Currently, The International Tennis Federation (ITF), is responsible for managing and running the tournament. With over 200 member National Associations, the tournament gathers nations coming from every continent, and motivates the associations to organise and promote the sport.
Federation Cup
Later – in 1963, after Davis Cup -, ITF launched the Federation Cup in order to celebrate the organisation’s 50th anniversary. Created by Mrs Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman, the main concept was to introduce an idea of a women’s team competition.
Since 1995 women are part of the tournament, and thanks to this acceptance they are a symbol of respect and greatness in the world of tennis.
